Item description
Refined pair of Italian paintings from the second half of the 17th century. Oil on canvas works depicting two wonderful still lifes of the Genoese school. In the first painting we find fruit and vegetable baskets with beautifully painted animals. In the second painting we see a table full of vegetables, large fish with lobster and a flask of wine. In the center of the composition you can see a cat that has stolen a fish and is hiding behind the terracotta vase. On the left, a young boy in seventeenth-century clothes looks at us, breaking the fourth wall, and with an eloquent gesture raises his finger to his lips, inviting silence. Paintings of notable pictorial quality and difficult to find, for antique dealers and collectors of high-period Italian painting. Elegant 19th century frames in carved and gilded wood, with several drops of gilding (see photo). Paintings already restored with relining, replacement of the frame and color recovery in small places, overall in a good state of conservation. Light paintings H 91 x W 119 cm.
