Robert Romanovich Bach, large bronze sculpture signed and dated 1897
PLATINUM Seller in Cuneo, Italy
Rare bronze sculpture from the second half of the 19th century. Work of extraordinary quality depicting a bison, signed and dated 1897 by the Russian sculptor Robert Romanovich Bach (see photo), lacking authenticity. A member of the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, he held sculpture lessons and won numerous prizes in his homeland. The bronze in question represents a bison from the Byelovezhskaya forest, a nature reserve famous for its wildlife. Statue that is difficult to find, in a beautiful patina and in an excellent state of conservation.
