Item description
Pair of porcelain lampshades from the Mangani Firenze company. Elegant Art Nouveau style lampshades in fine porcelain hand-painted bronze. The artistic porcelain depicts two nymphs emerging from a water flower. Decorated with blue-toned enamel and pure gold details. Produced by the Florentine company Mangani in the 80s. The Mangani family was already active at the end of the 19th century as ceramists and sculptors with their own atelier which was closed due to the great crisis of 1929. In the mid-1950s Alfiero Mangani, together with his son Ivan, opened a restoration and production laboratory in Sesto Fiorentino. The major turning point that transformed it from a family workshop to a company with over 50 employees occurred when the US company Tiffany & Co. came into possession of one of their works. Noticing the great quality, he commissioned thousands of pieces from him, thus starting a large-scale artisanal production and expanding the catalogue. The company is still active under the name Giulia Mangani.
