Item description
Large painting from the second half of the 19th century. Work signed E. Reynier and dated 1888 (see photo), referable to the German painter Emil Reynier (1836-1927) as per the plate affixed to the frame, lacking authentication. Oil painting on canvas depicting a splendid romantic scene; the two lovers find themselves on a wonderful rowing boat that glides gently along the calm waters of a river. The surrounding landscape opens up in an embrace of lush greenery and in the foreground we find splendid flowers. A painting of notable pictorial quality, particularly noteworthy is the executive quality in the creation of the clothes and in the rendering of a dreamy atmosphere. Spectacular contemporary frame in carved and gilded wood, beautifully decorated. Work on the first canvas which shows some signs of aging and a damage on the bottom right (see photo). Overall in good state of conservation. Light painting H 80 x W 116 cm.
