Item description
Three wall sconces with a refined and pleasant design, produced in France in Arlus style (Art and Lustre) between 1958 and 1960. Maison Arlus was a French lighting manufacturer, very active since the 1950s and close to the modern design movement. The structure of each one, made of brushed and polished brass, is essential but of valuable workmanship, the fixing plates to the wall are made of brass stove enamelled black, all the light points of the wall sconces are provided with half-crystal glass (unlike crystal, the glass from which the half-crystal is produced does not contain lead, is facetted by machine and then put in an electric furnace to make the edges of the faces less sharp, then hot-polished or fire-polished to give it a bright and shiny finish with an ice effect) with a slightly conical shape. After the classic processing of the half-crystal on the five glasses, a matt grinding has also been carried out to create a pleasant contrast. The electrical system has been completely redone (see photo on the back of the black plate) with U.S. wiring, the compatibility of voltage in other states must always be verified by an electrician before use.
