Item description

The Rosenthal manufactory was founded in 1879 by Philipp Rosenthal. Originally, it was a small workshop for working with ceramics. From 1907, however, Rosenthal begins to apply its brand name on every production of the laboratory and, from that moment, the growth of the company is exponential. Initially influenced by baroque and rococo, it then followed the developments of art nouveau and art deco, up to the collaboration with Versace. Currently, Rosenthal is owned by the Italian company Sambonet. F. Heidenreich worked for Rosenthal from 1919-1960 and is known for his depictions of forest animals and birds. From 1946 he was director of Rosenthal's own art department in Selb. In 1937 he took first place at the Paris World Salon thanks to his beautiful works on fish. Also from those years is the design of the Fowl Rooster ('37-'38). This is one of Heidenreich's most representative works and has been reproduced in various shapes and sizes. The grouse specimen we are proposing is one of the most finished you will ever encounter. In fact, the meticulousness with which the plumage has been realized is striking, as much from the point of view of the ceramic veins as from the point of view of the enamel painting. The definition is high from every perspective, as can be appreciated by looking at the back of the tail.
