Item description
Spectacular plaster bust depicting Apollo, God of music, prophecy, poetry, medical arts (the god of medicine is in fact his son Asclepius), plagues and science that illuminates the intellect, his main symbol is the lyre. Later he was also venerated in the Roman religion. Provenance Venice, private collection, late 19th century. Apollo, as in this case, is depicted crowned with laurel, plant symbol of victory, under which some legends wanted the god was born and also by virtue of the epilogue of his infatuation for Daphne (which in Greek means laurel, laurel). The work as a whole is of incredible value and workmanship. It presents a delightful patina. Although it is plaster the quality is very high. The anatomy and attention to detail is very high.
