Item description
Magnificent oil painting on canvas depicting landscape with figures. Work already attributed to the Neapolitan Master: Alessio De Marchis (Naples 1684 - Urbino 1752). Neapolitan but Roman by artistic adoption, De Marchis began his career at the age of seventeen in Rome, where he trained at Rosa da Tivoli's studio. His many famous works include the frescoes in the rooms of Palazzo Ruspoli and he also painted part of Palazzo Albani in Urbino under the protection of Cardinal Annibale Albani. Important works by Alessio De Marchis can also be found in Perugia, where he painted part of the chapel of the Gregorian college in 1739 and a room in Palazzo dei Priori in 1748. The painting is in a good state of preservation, with small stucco work restored. The work is set in a beautiful wooden frame, moulded and sculpted, contemporary and antique. Canvas measurements: 112.5 X 78 cm.
