Item description
Elegant and linear lamp in nickel and gilded brass; the solid round base with two steps, supports a brass sphere from which a stem with a refined, harmonious and proportioned shape departs; at the top of the stem, there is a small but massive brass disk above which the light point with the attachment for a lampshade (not supplied) has been placed. The lamp was produced in Paris between 1960 and 1964 in a workshop for the working of metals, it was a very well-equipped and specialised workshop in that the polishing and finishing of the two metals used were obtained with precision and meticulousness of the highest level; in the polishing process the piece was worked with natural bronze wheels, combined with a very fine abrasive paste, then using other types of wheels it was possible to obtain a perfect polish so that even the reflection of light became more uniform, giving the surface in question the typical shiny appearance. These master craftsmen made the lamp with their own design in Mazda style, by concession of Mazda itself without being able to affix the brand name but following strict production schemes, the original table lamp style "Mazda Lamp" fascinates with its Parisian design of the thirties, simple and functional Art Deco; the successful combination of these mixed materials and the refined colours have created a preciousness full of contrasts but very harmonious; in this lamp quality, elegance and fine workmanship are the focus of attention. Here the creativity of the designer and the art of craftsmanship come together to create an exclusive product, a unique modern piece of furniture, refined and elegant at the same time, which fits naturally and simply in both contemporary and classic environments. Mazda is a brand created within General Electric in 1909 which, in addition to incandescent light bulbs, had a prolific production of lighting and furniture of the highest quality; this name was chosen for its association with the deity Ahura Mazda, the main god of Zoroastrianism whose name of Avestan origin means the light of wisdom (Ahura = light; Mazda = wisdom). The lamp is supplied without lampshade so that everyone can choose the colour to match their own personal decor. The base measures diameter 17 cm, height 54 cm. The lamp is in perfect condition. The electrical system is new but the wiring is European, compatibility of voltage in other states should always be checked by an electrician before use.
