Item description
A omnipresent name in contemporary architecture and design, Philippe Starck has created everything from hotel interiors and luxury yachts to toothbrushes. Yet for every project in his diverse portfolio, Starck has maintained an instantly recognised signature style: a dynamic, elegant, fluid and witty look. The Sarapis stool, designed in 1986 for the Italian company Driade, is no different. It is a stool with minimal lines whose extreme rigidity is broken by the curve that supports the small backrest and the (arched) bar on which the feet rest. These are the only two curves present in the extremely linear stool, curves that contribute to giving a minimum of movement to the seat itself by breaking its verticality. The seat is also made of a dense steel mesh perforated with many small squares that emphasise the overall rigor of this fine product. Made of grey tubular steel, with a steel mesh seat, it has gradually become an international design icon. A functional and minimalist design that is still relevant today. The chair was also part of the same series; the two products are no longer in production. Quantity: 4 Production: 1986 Condition: Good.
