Item description
Here is an uncommon work of art by a lesser-known Italian artist, Lino Tiné. Made from three sheets of steel, each decorated with a different motif, this abstract sculpture has a beautiful textural appearance. The metal sheets are scratched, hammered, punched and so on to create abstract patterns and textures reminiscent of mechanical stamps and tyre marks. The orderly surface of the steel has been altered by Tiné through the use of a wide range of different tools such as drills, hammers, scalpels, saws that have left marks capable of evoking a broader vision in which the artistic intent is made clear and evident. Spending time in contemplation of this piece, running your fingers over the metal surface and scrutinising every dent and chamfer with a keen eye, the sculpture will never cease to amaze you. The sculpture comes with four different pins, positioned by the author to allow it to be hung in four different directions, emphasising the fact that the work is open to personal interpretation. It is signed in the bottom right-hand corner of the central sheet LINO TINE 72, indicating the creation of the work in 1972. The work is preserved in good condition despite its age.
