MIM Roma (Mobili Italiani Moderni) was founded by Ico Parisi with the intention of integrating the visual arts with furniture design. Parisi worked as both a designer and creative director and collaborated with visionary new designers such as Luigi Pellegrin.
MIM produced furniture that incorporated new innovations and materials and became a major player in the world of postmodern Italian design.
The sofa is the numbered M.I.M. production item from 1965.
Both the sofa and the armchair are composed of 3 elements: a base
made of fiberglass reinforced with ribs, a wooden frame later covered with the fabric (velvet) housed at the fiberglass base thanks to guides, and a cushion.
The back cushion is designed and manufactured seamlessly to
continuity, it forms both the backrest and armrest in one element.
The seat cushions are different from each other in shape and size.
Five buttons are missing.
The fiberglass has been polished and is slightly marked.
