Gastone Rinaldi In 1948 Gastone Rinaldi (Padua - 1920 - 2006) became the owner of RIMA, a Paduan company specializing in the production of metal furniture, founded by his father Mario in 1920. During this tenure he discovered his vocation as a designer, which led him to revolutionize the brand's repertoire with modern, avant-garde models born of his deep knowledge of metals. Rinaldi created several types of furniture that became emblematic of the transition from artisan to industrial production in 1950s Italy, especially chairs, in which metal composition predominated. Among others, he collaborated with Gio Ponti on the design of the DU10 chair in plywood and iron rod, an element that became his hallmark and that reappears in most of his best-known chairs, such as the DU30 armchair, in iron and foam rubber, winner of the Compasso d'Oro in 1954.
