Sheffield tray by Engelbert Kayser, early 20th century
SILVER Seller in Torino, Italia
Jugendstil Sheffield tray by Engelbert Kayser, made in Germany in Köln between the late 19th century and the early 20th century. The Old Sheffield Plate technique was devised by Thomas Boulsover in the mid-18th century: through heat a copper plate is covered with pure silver, so that it can then be worked and embossed like objects made entirely of this material.
