Boat oil lamp by Bakboord, made in the Netherlands in the 19th century. It was used as a signaling tool, like modern electric headlights. Copper structure and double glass, one transparent and one red; this duplicity allowed for varying the signaling. At the time functioning with white oil, today ethyl alcohol or bioethanol can also be used.
