Item description
Rare Danish Palshus table lamp by Per Linnemann Schmidt. Palshus produces works using the chamotte technique. This lamp is regarded in Denmark as the jewel in the crown. The lampshade and electrics are new. Palshus Ceramics was founded by Per Linnemann-Schmidt and Annelise Linnemann-Schmidt in 1947 in the town of Sengløse, west of Copenhagen, Denmark. The name of the studio is an acronym for P(er),(A)nnelise (L)innemann, (S)chmidt and HUS (home). The studio's early pieces were precise and minimalist, with beautifully silky and opaque hare glazes, mostly in shades of brown, blue, green or cream. In the 1960s, Palshus saw a change in style with the use of chamotte (textured clay) and embossed/graffito motifs, used in combination with shiny glazes with a rougher texture. The ceramics closed in 1972. The dimensions of the pottery are H 40 x D 18 cm.
