Item description
Three MR10 chairs designed by Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe and produced by Thonet. Characterised by chrome-plated tubular steel frame, original rattan or cane seat. Germany 1960s. The MR10 is one of the most iconic design chairs of all time, first designed in 1927 and exhibited at the Die Wohnung exhibition in Stuttgart. People were amazed for two reasons: the tubular chrome-plated steel frame and the weight, all supported by front legs. The steel finish contrasts with the straw seat and backrest, creating a streamlined chair. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1886-1969) was a German-born American architect whose rectilinear forms, realised in elegant simplicity, made him one of the most important and influential architects of the 20th century.
