Terracotta sculpture with the head of Juno. Italy, 1870. This sculpture is modeled by hand. Good general condition, original patina. Juno was the ancient divinity of marriage and childbirth, often represented in the act of breastfeeding, who later assumed the functions of protector of the state. She daughter of Saturn, she was gradually assimilated by the ancient Romans to the era of Greek mythology, becoming the wife of Jupiter, thus the most important female deity. Together with Jupiter and Minerva she formed the so-called Capitoline Triad.
