Item description
Iconic and elegant magazine rack in modernist style; it consists of a thick sheet of curved smoked crystal inserted in an upside-down position on a curved brass support that creates a uniform, aesthetically simple but very refined whole. After careful research, we can attribute the magazine rack with absolute certainty to the design of Pierangelo Gallotti, and precisely to his 'Lira L1' model, made between 1975 and 1980 by the firm Gallotti & Radice of Milan (Italy). Pierangelo Gallotti founded the company Gallotti & Radice together with Luigi Radice. This brand was founded in 1955 in Brianza, Italy, and specialised in the production of stained glass, mirrors and lamps/portals. Gallotti & Radice was the first company in Italy to experiment with and promote, as early as the 1950s, a love for the study and use of an extraordinary material in the furnishing sector: crystal. Used in its purity and elegance, but above all combined in a unique and skilful way with other materials such as wood and metal, crystal imposes itself as the discreet and strong protagonist of the G&R collection. Fundamental, since 1970, has been the collaboration with established designers such as Luigi Massoni, Andreas Weber, Davide Pizzigoni, Maurizio Duranti, Nanda Vigo, Carla Venosta, Gabriele Moscatelli and Italo Pertichini, who over the years have been called upon to create new products for the company. Gallotti & Radice has grown precisely by handing down all the secrets of crystal workmanship, which have been revealed over the years thanks to the top-level craftsmen involved in the company's production line, who have been able to increase, step by step, the level of knowledge of the materials handled. The magazine rack has a 'space-like' design typical of those fascinating times; with its essential, geometric style, it is a real piece of furniture that lends a unique atmosphere to the home. The design of the 1970s leaves room for freedom and innovation and explodes into a variety of styles and movements that explain its richness, making room for roundness, freedom of form and movement, lightness and simplicity. This vintage and original magazine rack is a unique piece to be carefully displayed and narrated, it is not a simple magazine rack, it is much more. It measures 43 cm wide, 39 cm deep and 28 cm high. The magazine rack is in excellent condition. On one corner of the crystal there is a very slight imperfection (see photo). For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, polystyrene, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the items.
