Item description
Pair of Napoleon III cachepots made of very fine French porcelain "Porcelain de Paris". They have an extremely pleasant and functional shape. They have a truly unique floral decoration: beautiful brightly colored flowers have been hand-painted on the black surface; the miniaturist executed them with meticulous care, it almost seems to be able to grasp and smell their perfume. We are talking about Osteospermum Eklonis also known as Dimorphoteca Pluvialis or simply African Daisy, garden plants native to Africa but which have long been widespread in the most beautiful gardens in the world (see photo). The border has a thick pure gold decoration. On the base are applied four showy shaped legs richly decorated also in pure gold. These cachepots were made by master craftsmen in the style of Napoleon III in a porcelain workshop in the suburbs of Paris between 1880 and 1890 respecting the ancient traditions and the raw material (kaolin). They are rare because the artisans of "Porcelain de Paris" used little black porcelain, preferring white, but these objects followed the fashion of those years as regards color. "Porcelain de Paris" is a term that collectively refers to the various porcelain decoration workshops and studios in and around Paris. It is not the name of a single company or manufacturer and is usually applied to well-crafted items produced in the mid to late 19th century. The producers are in some cases anonymous and generally unknown or have only made a few pieces. These objects are the most desired by collectors and can be found in many museums around the world. (For all our shipments we use special packaging materials such as wooden cases, polystyrene, etc. for maximum protection and safety of the objects)
