Item description
Pair of Narciso wall mirrors by Sergio Mazza for Artemide, late 1960s. Brushed nickel-plated brass and mirrored crystal frames. The larger one has a diameter of 62 cm and is 3 cm deep. The smaller one has a diameter of 42 cm and is 3 cm deep. In 1959 architect Sergio Mazza founded with aeronautical engineer Ernesto Gismondi the Artemide company in Milan, specializing in lighting fixtures. Despite this company's artisanal beginning, in a short time Artemide established itself as one of the most important and qualified brands in this field, thanks to its collaboration with some of the most famous designers of this period such as Vico Magistretti, Studio BBPR and Gio Ponti. Artemide products are characterized by essential aesthetics mixed with industrial design technologies and, at the same time, manage to express the tradition of Italian design through the choice and sophisticated processing of materials. In the 1960s Mazza designed his most famous lamps for Artemide (Delta, Tau, Sigma, Alfa and Clio), which quickly became design icons and were also included in important collections of prestigious international museums.
