Item description
Table lamp by Oscar Torlasco, 1950s. Base in black lacquered metal, stem in chromed and black lacquered metal and lampshade in red lacquered metal. Designer Oscar Torlasco (1934 - 2004) made a name for himself between the 1950s and 1960s by designing for several Italian companies specializing in lighting, such as Esperia, Stilux and Stilkronen. His most recognizable creations, such as industrial-style lamps made of brass and lacquered metal with adjustable beams of light, are produced by the Italian company Lumi, while Fabbrica Illuminazione Greco produces for Torlasco the street lamp Genova 4053, with which he won the Compasso d'Oro in 1959. Metal is the common denominator of his pieces and is generally combined with other materials such as marble, Murano glass and crystal.
