Encaustic painting entitled "Bahia Beach - Brazil," signed "G. Colognesi" and dated 1956. Encaustic is a decorative technique in which colors are mixed with wax through the use of heat; this allows for the fusion of wax and pigments. The wax used for encaustic is obtained by boiling wax with the addition of water, pigments, lime and glue.
