Item description
Watercolor etching depicting a surrealist composition made by Gordon Faggetter in 1976. Placed within a polished brass-plated frame. Faggetter (1948 - 2020) was born in Surrey in the United Kingdom and had a great passion for painting since childhood. He moved to Brighton with his family where he stayed until 1965 when, with two friends, he began playing drums and created the group the Cyan Three (the name comes from the fact that they are three boys with blue eyes). The Cyan Three arrived in Italy in 1967, selected and booked by Alberigo Crocetta, to accompany Patty Pravo's performances at the Piper Club. Later the group will also accompany Mia Martini. Despite his success as a musician, Faggetter's love for painting did not wane and he continued to paint in both oil and watercolor. He gave life to beautiful 33 rpm covers for some artists of the period such as Patty Pravo and De Gregori whose 33 rpm "Camel" is universally known as "La Pecora," in reference to the very cover design executed by Faggetter. A series of prestigious group and solo exhibitions held in the early 1970s established him as one of the most sensitive contemporary painters. In 1973 Gordon settled in Rome (later permanently in Campagnano Romano) and decided to give up music and devote himself full-time to painting.
