Pair of Tapira table lamps by Gianemilio Piero and Anna Monti for Fontana Arte, 1970s (designed in 1974). Made of white Makrolon with domed glass light diffuser. The "wings" can be adjusted to shield the glass thus controlling the amount of light emitted. The front section has a fixed semi-circular recessed tray. The lower section is embossed with the names of the designer and manufactory. The lamp is published in Repertorio del Design Italiano 1950-2000 by Giuliana Gramigna (p. 408). FontanaArte S.p.A. is an Italian company founded in Milan (as Fontana Arte) in 1932 by Luigi Fontana and Gio Ponti and specializing in glass processing and the creation of furnishing accessories. It is known for working with curved crystal and producing lighting fixtures, becoming a leading name in Italian design over the years.
