Gilded and chiselled bronze table clock, mid-19th century
PLATINUM Seller in Milano, Italy
Gilded and chiselled bronze clock. The complex decoration of this clock, on the apparent eclecticism of the whole, gives prevalence to structural types and figurative details typical of 16th-century architecture, re-proposing the façade of a palace with a central staircase and statues of vestals on either side. The enamelled metal exhibition has the manufactory's mark in the centre but it is barely legible. The clock is surmounted by putti holding a garland. Mechanics marked Cailly Ainè 1839 on the back dial.
