Item description

Charles Rennie Mackintosh's Ingram chair is part of the "Cassina i Maestri" collection, which brings together a selection of the most significant pieces of furniture created by the protagonists of the Modern Movement, which have become founding references for design. The "Cassina i Maestri" collection has made it possible to recover the original values... making available faithful reconstructions of furniture and objects capable of transferring to us intact the messages of innovation and anticipation embedded in the proposals of the Masters. The chair - the object of attention in Cassina's production programme - represents the node where spatial action is most coordinated: it is where the government of the composition always ends. The exclusive rights to reproduce Mackintosh's chairs and furniture were acquired by Cassina, a leading international Italian brand, in 1972. The four Ingram chairs we are proposing are authentic pieces from Cassina's "Masters" collection, designed in 1900 by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, the Scottish architect-designer-artist who was born in Glasgow in 1878 and was the main exponent of the Glasgow Movement that anticipated the Modern Movement. He designed the Ingrams for Miss Cranston's Ingram Street Tearooms, prestigious tea rooms in Glasgow's Ingram Street. The version of the four iconic chairs we are proposing is the Ingram-Low produced by Cassina in ebonised ash wood and upholstered seat covered in a special fabric with dark blue and black raised stripes. Each of the 4 chairs is in perfect condition; no marks. The 4 chairs can also be sold in pairs of 2.
