Sideboard by Umberto Mascagni, 1950s. Gorgeous burgundy-colored leatherette covering, black leatherette legs and details, gilt metal borders; all excellently and evenly preserved without halos or lightening caused by time. It has three doors with decorated back glass; the two on either side depict a woman with a pitcher, the central one glasses. In 1950 Mascagni created a new line of luxury furniture using alternative materials; these were presented and partly made exclusively for Harrods in London. Available official proof of authenticity as period catalogs, design documents or other literary sources.
