A refined set of Bakelite trays of Chinese origin decorated with gold leaf. This set consists of eight trays in the shape of a typical Chinese fan made of black Bakelite decorated on the top entirely with gold leaf. Bakelite, a resin first synthesised in 1907, came into widespread use in the 1920s. In full Art Deco style typical of the 1930s. The tray set is ideal for giving an oriental flavour and a unique touch to your table. They are suitable for many uses as trays for aperitifs, dinners and more. The trays are in excellent state of preservation, they have no cracks, the upper leaf part now has slight marks as in the photo. Large tray width 30 cm, depth 30 cm.
