Ozoo single bed by Marc Berthier for Roche & Bobois, 1970s

A very rare example of the Ozoo collection created in 1968 by the pencil of Marc Berthier for Roche & Bobois that marked an era. A symbol of the evolution of techniques and materials in the 1960s, the Ozoo collection represented the modern dream of plastic applied to furniture: lightness, industrialisation, resistance both indoors and outdoors, "pop-optimist" colours. A younger sibling to the desk and chair of the series of the same name, the single bed, which we propose in navy blue, is also made, as Berthier himself declares, "in a single piece, like a monolith, which represented, at the time, a real performance...These creations have been important to me in terms of recognition at an international level, especially at museums. Above all, they reminded me that industrial creativity is the work of an inseparable quartet: the designer who creates the object, the industrialist who creates the specific tool for its production, the distributor who creates the conditions to highlight it and the publisher who is and remains the main actor, the coordinator. For the Ozoo collection, it was a trio: François Roche, M. Dhaussy (the producer) and myself, in symbiosis'. The condition of the single bed is excellent: the body has 'drawn' ribs on all four sides and synthetic velour upholstery on the inside, both edged in black rubber, a stiffening platform on which the wooden mattress rests, fixed at the bottom. There are four very small striations on the shell.
