Genni chaise longue by Gabriele Mucchi for Zanotta, 1980s

Genni is a chaise longue born from the collaboration that engineer, architect, and painter Gabriele Mucchi had with Zanotta starting in 1982. The project for Genni, born in 1935, came to fruition when the artist, who returned to Milan in 1934 after his European experiences in Paris and Berlin, designed a series of metal furniture pieces that managed to find a place among the thousands of architectural and cultural engagements in which he was involved. We cite, by way of example only, the house in Via Marcora in Milan, the QT8 also in Milan with Piero Bottoni, the AR plan with BBPR, participation in the VI, VII and VIII Triennale, and much more. Genni has a streamlined and elegant line, uncluttered and at the same time of great comfort. The structure is made of powder-coated gray-blue, matte steel. The springing of the back and seat is achieved by steel spirals attached to the seat and back structure. The seat, adjustable in two positions, is particularly comfortable thanks, in part, to the headrest and armrests both covered with leather.
