Antique Russian icon painted on wood from the Mount of Olives (sacred olive tree), depicting St Nicholas the Blessing Thaumaturge. Gold background and borders, work with great attention to detail and expression, especially Christ and the Madonna, positioned high up on either side of the saint. Executed in oriental colours with ground hard stones. Dating from the beginning of the 20th century, Nicholas II era.
