Dining room consisting of a sideboard, a table and four chairs. The mahogany sideboard with a four-door and four-drawer structure (resting on eight moved and carved legs joined by a shaped top) has an internally illuminated bar compartment in the central doors. Mahogany table with a round top in purple Calacatta marble, resting on a wooden frame with a central turned and carved stem with a twisted motif, ending in a tripod with carved finials. Four mahogany and satin chairs, particularly elegant, characterised by a backrest with a finely carved folder with six vertical elements and a decorative motif with concentric centres. The legs of the sideboard are decorated with carvings of acanthus leaves and scrolls, the same carvings are present on the legs of the chairs and on the finials of the tripod of the table, the sideboard, table and chairs were therefore made by the same furniture maker. Under the table is the label of the Fratelli Barni Mobili d'Arte Seveso manufacture, a company specialised in the production of style furniture, active in the Milan area since the 1930s, with a shop in Milan at Via dei Giardini 3. The sideboard, table and chairs are in the Neoclassical style, the sideboard nevertheless has decorative elements of 1950s design, such as the light-coloured wooden grated drawers of the bar compartment in the central doors and the decorative frieze between the drawers in mahogany wood, which is also present on the left and right of the drawer area. Another element typical of the best designers of the 1950s is the use of glass shelves and the interior lighting in the bar compartment, made by the Vimar company, founded in 1945 in Marostica (Vicenza). The VIMAR trademark is present at the top of the bar compartment, on the right.
The measurements of the sideboard are given in the card, the table has a diameter of 114 cm, the height is 79 cm, the thickness of the marble is 2.8 cm. The precious marble Calacatta viola is also called Breccia Medicea, as it was widely used by Cosimo I de' Medici, Lord of Florence. The dating of the dining room to the first half of the 1950s is certain, it belonged to a husband and wife living in Milan who were married in July 1951. The sideboard is in very good condition, the table and chairs are in vintage condition, needing some work, particularly on the upholstery of the chairs. The furniture is a fine example of mid-century Italian manufacture. The dining room, located in Milan, will be packed at the seller's expense by a company specialised in transporting antique furniture, and can be shipped by the seller's own company with delivery to the buyer's floor (euro 350 within a 10 km radius).
