Item description
Pair of armchairs mod. EA 108 by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller, 1960s. True icons of 20th-century design, the Aluminium Group series of chairs were designed by Charles and Ray Eames in the 1950s and first produced in 1958, setting what is still the standard for meeting/office chairs today. A clean, exposed structure combines the stability and lightness of aluminum with the comfort of upholstery - leather, fabric or mesh - which, being kept taut only by attachment to the sides, becomes an integral part of the joint. Herman Miller, Inc. based in Zeeland, Michigan, is an American office furniture and furnishings company. Some products that have entered industrial design history are the Equa chair, the Aeron chair, the Noguchi table, the Marshmallow sofa, and the Eames Lounge Chair. Herman Miller is the inventor of the cubicle (known as "Action Office II") in 1968 designed by Robert Propst. Herman Miller in Europe is present in every state with a dense network of distributors but we find its direct presence with a dedicated showroom in Milan, Paris and London. It includes several brands that are all part of its group: Naughtone, Hay, Design Within Reach, Geiger, Maharan, CBS, Nemschoff, Mars Living Walls. As of 2018, the current CEO is Andi Owen. With an extraordinary sense of adventure, Charles and Ray Eames turned their boundless curiosity and enthusiasm to the creations that made them an extraordinary husband-and-wife design team. Their unique synergy has led to the creation of furniture with a completely innovative look that is subtle, modern, fun, functional, elegant, sophisticated and wonderfully simple.
