Three hand-carved Chinese wooden figures with a patina that makes them look like stone, in good condition with only signs of age. The finish applied to wood that imitates the appearance of stone. This is a mottled surface treatment that gives the statues an aged appearance. The mid-20th century in the context of Chinese art reflects a balance between traditional Chinese artistic styles and the influence of global modernist culture.
