Item description
It is 1963, the Space Age is in its infancy and Italian architect Joe Colombo designs a piece that will define the aesthetics of the era: we are obviously talking about the Elda chair, named after his beloved wife, produced by Comfort and later by Longhi. It is hard to believe that these sinuous curves, made of fibreglass and leather, will be sixty years old in 2023: good design is truly timeless! Over the years, the Elda has been produced in three different body colours (black, grey and white, the present) and in a wide range of upholstery, mainly leather. However, the most iconic and sought-after is the white shell/white leather version, the present one, not least because it blends easily with almost any interior. The chair offered is well preserved, with the fibreglass shell showing only slight signs of time; the upholstery is the original and shows signs of use including fading and cracking.
