Pair of oil paintings on canvas from the 18th century depicting two young dwarfs made by a Venetian painter from the circle of Alessandro Longhi. The two paintings, in excellent condition, depict two richly dressed young Venetian nobles. The first of hers wears a red dress with elegant lace on the sleeves and neck, she wears a blue cloak over her shoulders; her left hand rests on a small bouquet of roses placed inside a wicker basket while she holds a white flower in her right hand. The second girl, also elegantly dressed in a pink and white dress, has a bird resting on the fingers of her right hand; behind her a landscape opens up. The two paintings come from an important private Venetian collection and precisely this, in addition to the comparisons with other works by the same artist which highlight numerous common characteristics, leads to an attribution to the sphere of the well-known Venetian painter Alessandro Longhi (1733 – 1813).
