Hand-blown rostrato Murano glass chandelier designed by Ercole Barovier and produced by Barovier & Toso, 1940s. Consisting of a large cup that contains the light, this is surmounted by another smaller cup in which six falling leaves are housed. The cables are still the original ones. Wear consistent with age and use. Two chandeliers available (price per piece). Ercole Barovier was an Italian entrepreneur and designer born in 1889 in Murano and passed away in 1974. Barovier went to study in Venice to become a doctor but never finished his studies. After the First World War, in 1920, he decided to work with his father, proving to have an incredible talent in glass working. In 1929 he discovered the Primavera technique, a transparent and cracked glass. In 1936, Barovier took over the company. Barovier & Toso is an Italian company founded in 1225 in Murano, Italy. The company is one of the oldest family businesses in the world, originally founded as Barovier. In 1936, the company merged with the Toso family's Fratelli Toso glass factory. The company specializes in Venetian glass and lighting.
