Barovier went to study in Venice to become a doctor but never finished his studies. After the First World War, in 1920, he decided to work with his father, proving to have an incredible talent in glass working. In 1929 he discovered the Primavera technique, a transparent and cracked glass. In 1936, Barovier took over the company. Barovier & Toso is an Italian company founded in 1225 in Murano, Italy. The company is one of the oldest family businesses in the world, originally founded as Barovier. In 1936, the company merged with the Toso family's Fratelli Toso glass factory.
