Item description
Pair of Gaudi armchairs in green plastic by Vico Magistretti for Artemide, 1970s. Ludovico "Vico" Magistretti (Milan, October 6, 1920 - Milan, September 19, 2006) was one of Italy's most important designers, architects and urban planners. His clean, essential design characterized and inspired the world of home, office and corporate furniture creation throughout the latter part of the 20th century. The legendary Italian lighting company Artemide was founded in the province of Milan in 1959 by designer and engineer Ernesto Gismondi, born in Sanremo in 1931, and designer Sergio Mazza, born in Milan in 1931. As is well known, it was the latter who designed the Alfa lamp, the company's first successful product, a year before Artemide was launched. In the decades since, both founders have continued to create new designs for Artemide's ever-evolving collections, whose goal has been to develop distinctive and eye-catching lamps in collaboration with leading design talents from around the world.
