Item description
Born in Italy but raised and educated in Paris, Willy Rizzo was one of the most eclectic figures on the modern design scene. Well known among furniture collectors and enthusiasts, Rizzo was not a designer by training: his main activity was photography, and he was extremely good at it. He took countless portraits of actors, singers and celebrities, but also did reportage work. His start as a designer dates back to 1966 when, while in Rome, he made some custom-made furniture for a hairdresser he knew. The pieces were so popular that he soon started receiving commissions for similar complements. From then on, he doubled as a photographer and furniture designer, creating many different pieces, all with a common target audience: rich jet-setters looking for the latest trend in every aspect of life. The present table, an original design from the early 1970s, is well preserved and absolutely representative of Rizzo's style. With a diameter of 130 cm, it comfortably seats up to six people. Made with essential but decisive lines, it is able to polarise attention in any environment in which it is placed.
