Officina chair in iron and leather by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec for Magis. The Officina collection explores the possibility of establishing a new creative language while working with an ancient manufacturing process such as iron forging. The collection includes tables and coffee tables, chairs, armchairs, stools, benches, a series of accessories and upholstered furniture. All these pieces are characterized by a forged iron structure with the allure of a raw material handed down over the centuries, alive, with those slight imperfections that make each piece of this collection unique, with an unmistakable industrial flavour, but combined with a profoundly refined and elegant. The chair has an iron structure with leather seat and back. Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, born in 1971 and 1976 respectively, in Quimper, France, studied at the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and the École des Beaux-Arts in Cergy-Pontoise. Since 1999 both brothers have worked together as joint partners in their own Paris-based design studio. Their work ranges from small utilitarian objects to architectural projects. In addition to the design of furniture and various home accessories, the focus of their work is the design of the interior space. They have collaborated with major design companies such as Vitra, Cassina, Artek, Magis, Alessi, Established & Sons, Flos, Kvadrat, Glas Italia, Kartell, Kettal, Iittala, Cappellini, Ligne Roset, Nani Marquina, Mutina, Samsung and Hay. The designers' creations are part of permanent collections of selected international museums and several exhibitions have been dedicated to their works. These include the Design Museum in London, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, the Vitra Design Museum and many others.
