Panton Chair Classic S chair by Verner Panton for Herman Miller, 1975. Glossy black finish. This is the original Herman Miller Fehlbaum Production version in the beautiful high-gloss thermoplastic fiberglass material by Bayer. 1975 production lot. The chair is 50 years old and for its age is in very good condition; there are minor scratches from normal household use. Very rare, collectible artifact for true connoisseurs.
After coming up with a design for an all-plastic chair made in one piece, it took several years before Verner Panton was able to find a manufacturer. He first came into contact with Vitra in 1963 and together they designed the Panton Chair, which was unveiled in 1967. It was received with great enthusiasm and rewarded with numerous awards. The original version of the chair with a high-gloss lacquer finish still bears the name Panton Chair Classic.
