Plexiglass and steel, beautifully preserved and working electrical system, original nallasts (neon tube transformers) still present. Original system delivered with the sign. The plexy has been repaired in a single small crack barely visible when switched on and highlighted in the photograph. Original and dated, this luminous sign depicts the Italian tricolour surmounting the black prancing horse on a yellow field, the story of which is fascinating and was recounted by Enzo Ferrari himself just once: 'The little horse was painted on the nacelle of Francesco Baracca's fighter plane, the heroic aviator who fell on Montello, the Ace of Aces of the First World War. When I won the first Savio circuit in '23, which was run in Ravenna, I met Count Enrico Baracca, the hero's father; from that meeting came the next one, with his mother, Countess Paolina. It was she who told me one day: 'Ferrari, put my son's prancing horse on your cars. It will bring you luck'. I still keep the photograph of Baracca, with the dedication of his parents, in which they entrusted me with the emblem.
