Item description
Pair of Alessandra armchairs by Giulio Moscatelli for Formanova, 1960s. If you think these armchairs are typically 1980s, think again: incredible as it may seem, Moscatelli designed these beauties in 1969 for Italian furniture brand Formanova. The choice of materials was decidedly futuristic at the time: the sloping legs are made of stainless steel and the shell is entirely upholstered in black leather, in a style that would not be adopted until almost ten years later, in the mid-to-late 1970s. Kept for over fifty years, these two armchairs are extremely contemporary and will look great in any vintage-inspired living room. They are comfortable, spacious and can be arranged separately or joined as one sofa being modular. The structures of both are preserved in original, undamaged condition (they still have the Formanova label), while the cushions have recently been reupholstered in a grey decorative fabric from the 2022 Dedar Milano collection, with an embroidered "C" motif. The legs have been preserved as they are, with the oxidation of time, as some collectors prefer their pieces to be as original as possible; however, we can also clean them before delivery. Seat height: 42 cm.
