Item description
Very rare and fine sculpture by Italian artist Aldo Flecchia, created in the 1970s from a block of solid pink granite. This is a very plastic abstract composition with smooth, angular forms. It is extremely textural, and the play of light on its surface helps to create very defined images. According to some it is a representation of the embrace between a mother and her child; others think it represents two lovers joined in an embrace. You might see anatomical shapes or even something completely different, and that is the beauty of this work: its inherent possibility, which leaves your imagination free. The sculpture has a special mark left by the artist, who carved a handprint near the base. Flecchia's signature is engraved in a circle and encloses a number that is most likely a "73", referring to the year the work was created, when the artist was 28 years old. The sculpture is massive and well preserved. There are no cracks in the stone, and the surface is still shiny and smooth with a light, even patina from the years.
