Item description
P40 armchair by Osvaldo Borsani for Tecno, 1960s (designed in 1956). The P40 - where the "P" stands for "poltrona" ("armchair") - is one of the most iconic pieces of Mid-Century Italian design. With a revolutionary approach, Borsani has created a finely designed seat. From the tubular legs to the elastic rubber armrests, through to the reclining backrest, seat and footrest, the armchair combines the comfort of traditional lounge armchairs with the innovation of industrial materials and production techniques. Two brass levers, one located under the seat and the other behind the armrest, allow you to tilt the two parts forwards or backwards, upwards or downwards, giving life to many different configurations. A click mechanism secures the hidden footrest. The armchair, a rare first series of the model, is preserved in remarkable conditions: the original labels are clear and clearly visible on the legs; the upholstery appears to be the original one and is still in excellent condition; the armrests show predictable signs of use. Seat height: 42 cm.
