Item description
Hand-knotted rug from Nepal made by Galleria Post Design in Milan, Italy, based on a design by Nathalie Du Pasquier. Number 12 of a limited production of 36 pieces that appears in the 2003 LIFE'S COMMODITIES Carpet Collection catalog. An interest in the world of carpets has always accompanied Nathalie: as a child, she spent hours and hours reproducing the designs of the carpets she had at home. The idea of designing her own patterns was born on a trip she made to Tunisia in 1982 with her partner George Sowden. Without explaining how, at that juncture she began to imagine rugs, perhaps abetted by that nomadic traveling that led her to spend much of her time in places where rugs were being made. She thus understood that she would have to start creating her own compositions so that the rug could manifest itself as she imagined it, that is, a privileged space in her home, a sacred place in which she could take refuge and snuggle. Her first experiments were two rugs for Memphis, then she continued with Palmisano designing a collection together with George Sowden. From his personal inspiration came Riviera, Riviera Grande, America, The birds, Ecuador, Panama, Leeward, Europe, and Mexico.
