We advise you to read the entire description, as we try to provide you with detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Iconic table lamp in chrome-plated metal; it consists of a rod on which are placed, at different heights, two cylinders at the top of which are two metal spheres that contain the light point inside. The spheres rotate 360 degrees in all directions, allowing for excellent customised lighting. The square base is solid and functional. The lamp has an elegant and minimalist design, made of the highest quality materials and finished in a chrome finish. The lamp was created between 1975 and 1980 in a workshop in Monza (Lombardy). The craftsmen were inspired by the style of the designer Goffredo Reggiani with the desire to create an object with reduced dimensions favouring the idea of practicality and linearity, and gave the lamp a timeless originality, following the fashion of those years; we know for a fact that the architect Reggiani used Lombard craftsmen of recognised skill in the construction of his objects, who used very refined materials also because the objects were mainly intended for the flats of the rich Milanese bourgeoisie; our lamp, with its characteristics of quality, accuracy and finish, was certainly made by those master craftsmen. The prolific and important Italian designer Goffredo Reggiani (1929-2004) founded the company in the city of Monza, Italy, in 1957. He personally designed most of the lamps, often using chrome-plated metal and steel, giving his creations a Scandinavian look. Goffredo Reggiani's chrome-plated luminaires are characterised by clean lines and flowing curves and offer bright, diffuse light. Reggiani's lamps have become cult objects for design enthusiasts and collectors, thanks to their aesthetic beauty and quality craftsmanship. The style of the luminaire is the 'Space Age', an aesthetic current born at the dawn of the space age, commonly attributed to the launch of Sputnik in October 1957. Space Age design captured society's optimism and faith in technology in the 1950s and 1960s. The spherical shape predominates in this style for most of the decoration and lighting where, often, if several spheres are connected, they are explicitly reminiscent of the atom. The design explodes in a variety of styles and movements, making room for roundness, freedom of form and movement, lightness and simplicity. The lamps of this period are characterised by essential volumes that recall geometric shapes that definitively break with the rationalist tradition. The materials are cold, shiny and metallic. Our lamp with its simple and essential design hides an ingenious, innovative and practical soul, ready to diffuse light according to our needs; it will easily fit into any context of the home thanks to its timeless elegance. The lamp is in good condition. The electrical system is functional but the wiring is European, voltage compatibility in other countries should always be checked by an electrician before use. Width 27 cm, depth 14 cm, height 52 cm. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (custom-made wooden crates, polystyrene, etc.) to ensure maximum protection and safety of the items.
