Item description

Luigi Ontani (Vergato BO 1943 - living) is a self-taught painter, sculptor and photographer, ceramist and versatile artist. During his military service in Turin, 1964-1965, he came into contact with gallery owners and artists and became interested in contemporary literature. From 1970 he was in Rome, from 1974 his first international recognitions in New York, at the Venice Biennale and in the main European cities. He has always been fascinated by the exotic, travelling to India and Bali, by craftsmanship experimenting with techniques and creating imaginative sculptures object and by literature is a masked but recognisable protagonist in his compositions. He mixes myths and cultures with irony and narcissism convinced that art is an elsewhere that distracts and amuses. Serigraph titled, signed and numbered in red pencil below the subject.
